Summer Learning Journey:Day 5, Part 1

We are now at the the last day for week 1, which is day 5. Wow! We have already done 1/4 of the Summer Learning Journey. Today's activity is for us to Translate 5 phrases to English or Maori using Google Translate. The five phases are-

  1. Nau mai ki Aotearoa.
  2. ____ is my name.
  3. What is your name?
  4. He pai taku ki te takaro i te whutupaoro.
  5. Where do you come from?

Activity 1-
1)
Maori - Nau mai ki Aotearoa.
English - Welcome to New Zealand

2)
English - ______ is my name.
Maori - ______ ko toku ingoa.

3)
English - What is your name?
Maori - He aha to ingoa?

4)
Maori - He pai taku ki te takaro i te whutupaoro.
English - I like to play rugby.

5)
English - Where do you come from?
Maori - No hea koe?

    Good job on getting past the first week of the Summer Learning Journey! I like your use of colour to show what's said in Te Reo and English, it makes it easier for anyone to read your post and understand what is being explained! Good job!

    Have you tried saying any of the phrases out loud to family or friends. It's good practice and might come in handy one day! I remember when I was in school I would practice small everyday phrases like "Ko Jade toku ingoa" and "Kei te pehea koe?" which means how are you? Do you have a Maori phrase that you know or like using?
