Today for period 3 we watched a Shakespeare performance called 'The Taming Of The Shrew". There were 3 girls performing and were constantly doing quick changes to change into different characters. They started with a classic song called 'Don't Stop Me Now' by Queen. The main plot of the story was about gender equality and how, 400 years later (back in the time of Shakespeare), it's still a common problem in our community. It was about two sisters called Katrina and Bianca who get married. Katrina (Kate) is a shrew and is real stubborn, low patience and sometimes violent. She is the older sister of the two. Bianca, because of their fathers rule, can't get married until her sister does. In the end a friend gets their friend to (force) marry Kate so they could marry Bianca. In the end Bianca falls in love with someone else and she can now marry him since Kate has been married. Kate's 'husband' starves her and makes her work hard so she will do everything that he tells her to, since he is apparently the 'master'. As I mentioned before, the message was about gender equality. Somethings that I enjoyed about it was that they were extremely good at acting. They presented it nicely and the story was reasonably easy to catch onto. I was also impressed about how they changed their character super fast. Something that I didn't like about is was that at the end, their characters were opposite genders and they kissed on the lip. That kinda thing is against my religion (since they were both girls) so I didn't like that part. Over all it was amazing and had an amazing story as well.

A really detailed summary of the storyline, you followed the play carefully Lauren. I like that you shared your own opinion and explained your reasoning.
