Summer Learning Journey:Day 1, Bonus Activity

In the Summer Learning Journey, there is a bonus activity at the end of some days, worth 10 points. Today's bonus activity, is to watch a Waka Ama race and decided whether or not we would talk part in one ourselves. Then verify our answer.

Here is the video we watched:

In my opinion, I wouldn't do the race. You would need to keep on rowing, and my arms would get tired. The wind might be against you, causing you to work even harder. You would get wet and that would cause you to siver as the wind dries the cold water. You would have to wait for over 10 minutes until the race starts, stranded in the water with the sun burning your skin. But there are also good things about it. The view would be amazing, traveling across the water like water skiing. Waka Ama races might be your thing, but it certainly isn't mine. What do you think? Is Waka racing for you?

  1. Hi there Lauren,

I enjoyed reading your opinion on join in on Waka Ama racing and I agree with you that your arms would get tired from paddling!

I used to do a boating sport similar to Waka Ama back in school called dragon boating and it was so tiring but it was brilliant exercise. True, you would think that with the water when you get wet you would start to shiver but do you reckon once you start paddling that you would warm up from all that exercise? Not to mention if it was a sunny day, would the water would keep you from melting from the heat?

Hope to hear from you soon Lauren, keep up the awesome blog posts!
