Summer Learning Journey:Day 5, Part 2

In the 1990s, four different individuals served as the Prime Minister of New Zealand – Geoffrey Palmer, Mike Moore, Jim Bolger and Jenny Shipley. Our second task for today is to write a short profile of one of our former Prime Ministers. We have a template we need to follow. Here is the link to it. I choose to do it on Jenny Shipley.

  1. Hi there Lauren,

Jade F here from the Summer Learning Journey! Well done on another brilliant blog post. I really enjoyed reading through the interesting facts about NZ’s first female prime minister. I actually didn’t know that she was a qualified teacher! I just graduated university last year with a primary teaching degree! I’m curious to know when did she become the prime minister of New Zealand? And I see that you left the political party section blank! The political party means the party she ran for in government (which you’ve mentioned in your facts!) which was National. :)

Awesome work on your blog post Lauren, keep up the good work!

    Jade F :)

  2. Hi Lauren,

I'm reading your blog from my home in Canada. My daughter, Rachel, suggested I could join in and be a part of the Summer Learning Journey. I'm so glad that you're participating - good for you!

I'm glad that you chose to share information about the first female prime minister - Jenny Shipley. I admire New Zealand for electing her! In Canada we have only had 1 female prime minister so far, Kim Campbell, and her time in office was very brief.

I hope you're enjoying learning more about your country through the blogging program. I'm certainly learning a great deal through the postings of students like yourself.

    Keep up your great efforts!

    Leslie
