Summer Learning Journey:Day 1, Part 1

Happy New Years Everybody!!!! Today is the 1st of January, 2018. The first activity for this week of the Summer Learning Journey talks about how the wives would stay home and look after the children. They would cook their meals, using a rule. it is the 'meat and 3 veg' rule. They would have to cook one piece of meat, and 3 different vegetables. Our first task for today is to write down whether or not we think the meat and 3 veg rule is a good one.

Activity 1-
The food rule has some good reasons, but mainly bad (in my opinion). What if there was a vegetarian in the family? 3 single pieces of veggie wouldn't be enough. They would need a small bowl full of salad. When the dad/husbands come home from work, 1 piece of meat wouldn't be enough. The boys in my family take a few pieces of meat from the plate. People in those days would probably be used to it, and not have any problems, but I know that the rule wouldn't work now a days.

  1. Hi Lauren

Awesome post! I was really interested in reading your thoughts on the one meat, three veges rule. I see that you really put some thought into your post because you wouldn’t think about the people who didn’t eat meat and think about the alternatives they would have to do for dinner to make up for the meat aspect of the rule. A salad or tofu perhaps?

I also have to brothers at home too and they love to have seconds and thirds at dinner so you made a really great point about not having enough food for everyone if the one meat, three veges rule was still used today. Great work Lauren.

Looking forward to reading more on your blog!
