Summer Learning Journey:Day 1, Bonus Activity

In the 1950s, people connected with others using postcards. According to the NZ History Website, New Zealanders posted over 2 million postcards between 1950-1960. That is an average of 87 postcards per person! Our bonus activity or today is to pretend you were a person in the 1950s. We have to create our own postcard, using Google Drawings, that you could send to your friend.

Bonus Activity-

I decided to choose the theme of 'Wish You Were Here' and the background of the Sky Tower, which is in Auckland. I photoshopped the photo to look like it was really me there. I added the New Zealand Sky Tower, a text to write a message (to my friend) and the Wish You Were Here at the top. The cutting out was a bit sloppy, because the editing tool I used was quite hard to use. Overall, I think that it was a creative design and I'm happy with it.

  1. Hi there Lauren

Jade F here from the Summer Learning Journey.
Wow! You have got some awesome digital design skills there! Your postcard looks incredible and that is so great that you used the Sky Tower in your postcard too. Have you been to the Sky Tower before? I live here in Auckland and I still haven’t been up it because I live quite far away from the city centre but one day I reckon I’ll go. You put so much effort into it, I think your image cutting was top notch, Photoshop is a very hard design program to use and you were brilliant with it! Even I found it challenging to use at school.

Keep up the awesome work Lauren! :)
