There is a new movie out in cinemas at the moment called Blade Runner 2049. It is a movie about what the world will be like in the future. Imagine that you able to travel through time and that you can see what the world will look like in 2099. Our bonus activity for today (and our last activity for the entire Summer Learning Journey!!!!!!) is to write down what we think the world would look like in 80-90 years. In 80-90 years, I'll be about 91-93 years old!
Bonus Activity-
I don't think the entire world would be on hoverboard and flying cars. But I do think that if you go to one of those gadget conventions, you would see a few hoverboard (real floating ones!!) I think the fashion might have changed. They might have a brand new style of clothes, or just a crazy new accessory. There would be a few trends (like our tends are the dab, selfies twining etc.). The rubbish problem would be HUGE :( There might be rubbish everywhere we look. Or someone might have fixed that problem. A tiny change now can have a massive effect on the future. The ozone layer (in New Zealand) might be damaged even more because of cars and factories. There would be new gaming stuff (like games and consoles). New famous youtubers, new websites etc. Lastly, I think there would be more cures to illnesses and more types of dresses. I'm ready to see the changes of the world, one year at a time.

I would like to thank the organizers for creating the Summer Learning Journey. I have enjoyed most of it. I'm happy to have learnt the history of New Zealand. My favorite activity is the music one because I love listening to music.
Hey Lauren,
ReplyDeleteIt´s Jade C from the Summer Learning Journey.
This is the last activity of the Summer learning journey and it requires you to think what life would be like in 2099. I agree with you that the entire world would not be covered with flying cars. However, I think that there will be some flying cars around. I also think that the phone we have now would change completely and look very different to cell phone that we use today. I cannot possibly imagine what things would look like in 2099 but I hope there will be less tension between different countries and less people dealing with starvation.
It´s awesome to see that you´ve reached the end of Week 4 activities! You have been working hard and your enthusiasm amazed me. It was fantastic to be able to read and comment on your blog. What did you think about Summer Learning Journey 2018? It would be great to hear some feedback from you!

Kia Ora Lauren,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Georgia and I am the cluster manager for the Kaikohekohe (Northland) cluster. For the next few days, I'll be commenting on students blogs from Uru Manuka and I am very excited to see the work you all have been doing this summer.
I am so impressed with the amount you wrote for this activity! I can tell you put a lot of thought into your answer and went into detail on what you think the world will look like in 2099. I hope the rubbish issue isn't a lot worse then it already is as I love our country and world and want it to be liveable for the future generations!
I read an article recently about flying cars and I think you're right that the whole world won't be on hoverboards and flying cars. A huge issue that we'd face with flying cars is that if there were any huge issues or malfunctions, the car would drop out of the car and could seriously injure innocent people, whereas normal cars could more easily pull over to the side of the road and bystanders would remain unhurt.
Thank you for including which activities are your favourites. We love hearing students feedback so we know how to improve the programme for next summer! Do you think you'd like to be involved in the Summer Learning Journey again next summer?
Nga mihi

Kia ora Lauren,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Tania and I work in the schools in the Kaikohekohe cluster in Northland, a long way from where you live in Christchurch! I am SUPER impressed that you have completed the Summer Learning Journey and have posted so many quality blog posts. What a great learner you have been over the holidays and it's great that you have enjoyed learning about the history of New Zealand. I have learnt lots from reading all of the blogposts! Do you like New Zealand music? I love some of our New Zealand bands and singers - the old ones and the new ones. Dave Dobbyn is amazing and so is Six60. Who are your favourite bands/singers? I wonder what music we will be listening to in 2099.... I wonder if the instruments will be more technological... Thanks for sharing your thinking. Enjoy the rest of your holidays.
