Summer Learning Journey:Day 4, Bonus Activty

A number of New Zealand (NZ) singers and songwriters have recently burst onto the music scene, becoming popular both in NZ and overseas. One of these artists, Lorde, is gaining a lot of recognition for her unique style and songwriting ability. People all over the world seem to really like the lyrics (words) that she writes in her songs. Our bonus activity for today is to write down the lyrics of our favorite song. I couldn't decide from Ordinary Girl or Photograph. I'm more familiar with the lyrics of Ordinary Girl but I like Photograph better. So I choose to do that.

Bonus Activity-
I listened to the song and write down what I tihnk it said. It may not be correct.

Name of Song - Photograph
Singer - Annie LeBlanc

For what it's worth, I hope we can be more
We are a thousand words, that's our current score
There's that picture we took that time
Stole it from you and now it's mine
I imagined this could happen but don't know how you feel

Maybe yes, maybe no
Maybe found my other half
Maybe all we are is a photograph x4

Know myself, but you know me better
We are a million moments, each one I'll treasure
Looking for clues in that branded ink
Gonna go crazy wondering what you think
I imagine this could happen but don't know how you feel

Maybe yes, maybe no
Maybe found my other half
Maybe all we are is a photograph x2

Maybe (no, no, no)
(Maybe all we are is a photograph)
Maybe (no, no, no)
(Maybe all we are is a photograph)

Borrowed time holding onto artefacts (artifacts)
Different now from when we started out (started out)
Over time things may change that change how you feel

Maybe yes, maybe no
Maybe found my other half
Maybe all we are is a photograph x2

Maybe (maybe yes)
(no, no, no)
Maybe all we are is a photograph x4

  1. Hi there Lauren,

Jade F here from the Summer Learning Journey team.

Great job on another blog post! I really liked that you included the video clip of the song, I had never heard of this song but after hearing it, I really like it. I like there's acoustic guitar incorporated in the pop music beat. It sort of reminds me of Bridgett Mendler or Jordin Sparks sounds when they first started their music career. Have you heard of them before?

Between her song Ordinary Girl and this song Photograph, what are aspects of her songs that you like? Is it the beat? Her voice? Any lyrics that relate to you personally? Let me know in a comment!

I look forward to hearing from you soon and keep up the awesome blog posts Lauren. :)

    All the best,
    Jade F :)

  2. Hey Lauren,

I am Jade C from the Summer Learning Journey team 2018. Did you have a good day yesterday? Yesterday, I had delicious roasted chicken with some salad for dinner and my family and I watched a really funny movie-"Daddy's back 1". Have you recently watched an extremely funny movie or a video?

Thank you for sharing the link of the music video. I am listening to it right now because I've never heard this song before. I really like the song because I like Annie's voice and the melody! Do you also like the lyrics of the song? I've read through and I got very confused...

Thank you for sharing the lyrics with us. It's amazing to see that you've written it by listening to the song without any mistakes. When I have to write down the lyrics, I have to listen to a song more than 10 times and stop many times in between to listen carefully to each word of the song.

You are doing a great job, keep up the awesome work!

I look forward to reading your other activity blog posts.

    All the best,
    Jade C.
