Final Day Of The Olympics Activities

Today means everything... This decides who wins gold and who doesn't in the Reading Olympics Activities. It is now day 7 of the activities and I'm determined to win gold.
So for the first activity, we learnt about the Paralympics and what they are/do. It's Olympics for the disabled type of people and where they have special sports just for them.
So what we had to do was to pick anyone to join us with the double cycling for disabled people. They would have one disabled person and one normal person (in the real Olympics). But because we might not know anyone disabled, we could pick anyone we wanted.
This is who I would choose and why-

I would choose my dad for it because of this epic reason, he cycles everyday to work and back so he'll be great for that. He would be very supportive for me because I have little experience on cycling. I go on rides with him every now and then. No one would have to train him up because he knows what he's doing (because he does it everyday). The last reason is because he travels about 10 - 15 km to go to work one way so he will be able to go a long way. He can help me when I get tired to pedal. So that's why I would pick him.

Activity 2
Most of the Paralympics struggled to pay the trip from NZ to Rio. So Harvey Norman had a fundraising and gave the money they earned to them. Now we have to think of two ways we can fundraise money for them and how we would do it.

So I thought that I should have a Bag Day. That is where little children come and create their own bags. To join, you would have to pay $5 per child. But where will I get the fabric you might ask? Well, I'll just buy them from the $2 shop. No harm in that, after all you are gonna be helping others! We'll also teach them how to hand sew!

The second thing I would like to do is to teach others how to play music. Then for one lesson, it would be $5 and there are three in total. My brother could teach guitar and I can teach piano.

Bonus Activity!!!
Say what! The bonus activity is worth 20 points! So to earn all of those, you had to create your own sport that the disabled could do. You had to change an original sport so it can fit them. You should include what the sport is called, blurb about how to play and three rules of the game.

So I changed the sport trampolining to my sport called Hanging Jump. There is a strong rope hanging from the roof and a harness attached to the end. Then  you get put into that. It is mostly for the ones who don't have legs. Then you wobble and shake to turn around and do flips and you can go up and down as well. If you want, someone can push you to start you off.

The three rules are that-
1. You can't unclip yourself while jumping.
2. Try not to go too forward or back from the mat because you could hit a wall or the rope might snap.
3. No one should go on the mat when someone is jumping because you can't really control where you go and might hit them.

Hope that you liked my blog!

  1. Well done on completing the final day of activities Lauren! I really like your sport you have come up with for the Paralympics! Sounds similar to the trampolines we went on at camp last year! Is this what triggered the idea?
