Day 4, Olympics Activities

This is now day 4 of the Olympics activities. I have so far gotten a total  ..... of out of 55.
The first activity was to pick one of the New Zealand team athletes and provide 3 facts about them, their name and what sport they compete in.

This is my information-

Her name is Valerie Adams. She competes in shot put. That's her sport. The 3 facts about her are that -
1. In Olympics she has won 2 gold medals and in the commonwealth games, she has won 3 gold and 1 silver.
2. This will be her 4th Olympics and her first Olympics was in Athens and came 7th.
3. She was born in Rotorua, D.O.B is 1984 and her height is 193cms tall.

The second activity was when we had to pick an athlete that we could meet out of these three options-

1. Lauren Boyle, who is a really good swimmer.
2. Stuart Farquhar, who does javelin throw.
3. Andrea Kilday, who does taekwondo.

I chose Lauren Boyle because she only has 1 and 1/2 of her legs but instead of feeling sorry for herself, we tried different things and is now a pro at swimming the 400m and the 800m freestyle. She is a really great inspiration and has a can do attitude. She only has half a leg because when she was young her dad accidently chopped her leg off with a lawn mower. Dramatice!

The bonus activity was to watch a video made by the athletes - This one
and rate a from 1 to 5 stars if we enjoyed it or not and give your reason.

I liked that it was about New Zealand and our country. It was showing all the great things about us and  how we (as Kiwis) are good people and have pride in what we do. We are connected by nation and know who we are. It shows (reading in between the lines) that we are determined to do all that we can and make our country proud. "Land of the white clouds"
BUT...
That video was quite confusing. That was because the message was about New Zealand and how it is inspiring us to with strength, speed and other things. That wasn't really something that I want to watch because (as a kid) I didn't understand it that well. Kids are the next generation and they should be the ones who should understand it.

So I would have to rate it a- *** (3 starts).

  1. Lauren, well done. You have put a lot of effort into Day 4s activities. I would like to meet Lauren Boyle too. She sounds like a very inspirational person!
