Careers Inquiry

In Social Studies we've been looking at careers and what job occupations we may like to have in the future. We all got given a booklet that we worked through. At first, we got to choose stuff from a list of things that we would want to buy; such as a car, what sort of house we got, what things we wanted for leisure, and other things around the house we may have wanted. I ended up choosing a decent 2 bedroom house, a sedan car, and things along the lines of a tv, a smartphone, pets, etc. After we chose all the things we wanted, we got given a job file at random, and that was the imaginary job that we had for work. I got given an Accountant position. The job file included the annual salary, monthly gross plus taxes we needed to pay every month, a description of what you supposedly do, and education that you had needed to get that job. After we got to look at our given jobs, we learnt about things such as budgeting, the monthly net, and taxes. Besides the taxes, we had to deduct the monthly spendings we had planned at the start of the booklet, the things that we had wanted to buy. Once we finished all the calculations and added and subtracted everything, we looked at how much money we had left for the month. Of course, we also had to use the money to spend on food and clothes every month on top of that. In the end, I had around about $1000 that I didn't need to use, so I saved it for my imaginary Pacific Cruise that I'd go on. I was fortunate enough to be able to pay it off within 3 months, I had good pay and I had budgeted well.
