Summer Learning Journey:Day 2, Part 2

In 2015, a kiwi golfer named Lydia Ko became the youngest woman in the world to reach the #1 ranking.  She was only 17 years old. Many people from here in New Zealand and overseas really admire her and think of her as a modern-day sporting hero. Our second task is to write down who our sporting hero is. We need to give some facts about them and explain why they are our hero.

Activity 2-
I chose-

Kasey Mae

She is my friend and she inspired me to do gymnastics. We became friends on the first day of Junior High School. She encouraged me all the way along my journey to gymnastics. We both helped each other and gave each other tips. It's good to be friends with a gymnast, rather than be in competition. Trust me. Kasey also goofs around alot. She is silly and he taught me to loosen up a little and step out of my comfort zone. Thanks to her, I'm not afraid to make mistakes. She alsos does something crazy (in public) and laughs about it. It is also fun to see the bystanders reaction.

  1. Hi there Lauren,

Jade F here from the Summer Learning Journey team!

That’s awesome that you’ve chosen your friend as your sports hero! I like that you talk about how she’s been there with you through your whole gymnastics journey and that you’re friends and not competitors; that’s a real friendship right there! True friends will support you no matter what and Kasey sounds like a true supportive friend!

I thought that was brilliant when you talked about she taught you about not taking everything serious and stepping out of your comfort zone. Besides gymnastics, is there anything that you and Kasey like to do together? My best friend and I like going out for lunch together because we’re real foodies and we love going to new restaurants and cafes to try new food!
Looking forward to hearing from you soon and keep up the blogging!

    Jade F :)
