Music Tasks

This term we are doing Music. We are currently learning about Matariki, a traditional Maori celebration. We've been given a couple of tasks that we are ot complete to do with Matariki. The first task is to create a Piktochart about what Matariki is about.

This is mine/ours (Information Credit) Summer and I kinda worked on it together -

The second task was to listen to modern Maori music and write our thoughts about it. Ther first song is 'Aotearoa' by Stan Walker (ft Ria Hall, Troy Kingi and Maisey Rika.)
I really like this song. It's a nice song and even though I can't understand everything that it translates to, I can tell that it is about the culture of New Zealand and why it is an amazing country. The music video is quite inspiring because it shows people form around New Zealand all joining together as one. They each contribute something to create the word 'Aotearoa'. Here is a translation of the song to english - Aotearoa Lyrics Translate

The second song is Modern Māori Quartet feat. Awhimai Fraser 'Māreikura.

I've never heard this song before but I can already tell that I like it. It is a nice and peaceful song and the voices are calming and soothing. There isn't really a music video provided but the video is them singing it. I couldn't find a translation of the song to english.

The third song is Wairua by Maimoa.

Again, I don't think that I've listened to the song before. It starts of with a single person singing then about a minute in, it turns to this really joyful song. It's uplifting and if you just listen to the words of it and the tone of voice they have, it'll turn any mood from dull and boring to sparkling with excitement. The music video has all the people wearing white until about 2 minute where there are colourful powder getting thrown onto then, which listens the mood even more.
