日本へ修学旅行! Exchange Trip to Japan!

7月8日、ホーンビー高校の学生10名と教師2名が日本への修学旅行に行くため空港へ向かいました。シンガポールで乗り継ぎ便があり、そのあとまた日本行きの便に乗りました。東京に着いた後、新幹線に乗って仙台駅に行き、ホストファミリーと初めて会い、一緒に家に帰りました。初日はホストファミリーとパスタとピザを食べました！
On July 8th, 10 Hornby students and two teachers headed to the airport to embark on a school exchange trip to Japan. We arrived in Japan after catching a layover flight in Singapore, then travelled to Sendai Station from Tokyo via bullet train. There, we all met our host families for the first time and went home with them. On the first day, I ate out with my host family and we got pasta and pizza!

ホーンビィの学生たちは日本の学生生活を体験し、一日中ホストシスターの授業に参加しました。別の日には、インターナショナルクラスと松島に行き、町を散策しました。お寺を訪れ、松島の景色はとても美しいと思いました！

We got to experience student life in Japan by spending the day following our host sisters around throughout the day and participating in their classes. On another day, we went to Matsushima with the international class and explored the town with them for the day. At Matsushima, I visited several temples with my group and the scenery of the place was amazing!

毎日、新しいことに挑戦しました。ずんだ餅、和傘、こけしを作ったり、すずめ踊りを習ったり、折り紙をしたり、日本人学生と一緒にスポーツをしたりしました。

We did something new every day. Some of the activities we did in Japan included making zunda mochi, decorating a wagasa and kokeshi doll, learning a 'Sparrow' dance, doing origami and playing sports with the Japanese students.

学校がない日は、ホストファミリーと一緒に青葉城のような仙台の人気観光地を訪ねたり、夏祭りに参加したりしました。ホストファミリーと一緒に楽しむだけでなく、ニュージーランドにいたときのペットを思い出して、ペットと遊ぶのも楽しかったです。

On the days we didn't have school, I went to different places in Sendai with my host family, such as Aoba Castle. Throughout the trip, not only did I have a ton of fun with my host families, but also enjoyed playing with their pets as it reminded me of my pets back in New Zealand.

日本での最後の日、私たちは新幹線で東京に戻り、ディズニーランドに行きました！東京は天気が良く、本当に暑かったです。いろいろなアトラクションに乗ったり、たくさん買い物をしたりしました。東京ディズニーランドで一番好きな乗り物は「Star Tours: The Adventure Continues」ですかな。待ち時間が短かったので、急に行くことにしたのですが、行ってよかったです。「It's a Small World」のアトラクションでキウイを見ることができて本当に嬉しかったです。ニュージーランドに帰ってきたような気分ですよ。

On our last day in Japan, we rode the bullet train back to Tokyo and went to Disneyland! The weather in Tokyo was fine and very hot. At Disneyland, I tried various attraction rides and did a lot of shopping. My favourite ride at Tokyo Disneyland probably had to be "Star Tours: The Adventure Continues". The ride only had a short waiting time, so we decided to join the queue while we were near it. I was really happy to see kiwis on the ride "It's a Small World". It made me feel like I was back in New Zealand again.

日本での2週間を終えて、私たちはニュージーランドに戻り、家族に日本での素晴らしい話をしました。常盤木学園高等学校のみんな、本当にありがとうございました！

After spending two weeks in Japan, we returned to New Zealand and reunited with our families, full of wonderful stories to tell them about Japan. Everyone at Tokiwagi Gakuen High School, thank you very much for everything!
