Human Evolution

Human evolution is the process through which Homo sapiens, as we know them now, gradually evolved from our primate ancestors. Around 6 million years ago, the earliest known progenitors of modern humans appeared. Thereafter, other species of hominids, such as Australopithecus, Homo habilis, Homo erectus, and Homo neanderthalensis, arose.

The modern human species, Homo sapiens, originated in Africa some 300,000 years ago. Their larger brains, more developed tool-making skills, and the emergence of language and civilization set them apart.

Homo sapiens eventually left Africa and migrated to other continents, displacing or mating with other hominid species like Neanderthals and Denisovans. Many variables, such as genetic mutations, natural selection, environmental stresses, and cultural developments, have influenced human evolution.

The sole remaining member of the hominid family is the human. Modern humans have made incredible strides in science, technology, culture, and society while the process of human evolution is still in progress, making them one of the most powerful and influential species on Earth.
