My First Solo Performance

For music we will all be performing a solo piece on an instrument to the class. The instrument that I have chosen is the piano/keyboard. I choose this because I took piano lessons for about a year and a half so I have some background experience on it. The song I have chosen to play is 'I Need U' by BTS. I chose this song because my brother has previously learned in on piano and it sounded really nice and also because I love both BTS and the song very much. The meaning behind the MV isn't really clear but it has been thought to be some link to the pains of growing into adulthood and it seems like none of them are happy anymore. A really cool thing about BTS's MV's is that there was a really strong story there thought different MV's. This is known as the HYYH Trilogy. On an app called Webtoon (an app where you can read lots of comics) they had their own story called 'Save Me' and it showed the story though the MV's. The ending to the series wasn't so much clear but I won't go into too much detail. Check it out if you can. Credit. I'm not so much nervous about the performance because I don't get stage fright. But I might get anxiety while performing because I have this feeling of being judged and it really gets to me. Currently the part that I am learning and is the hardest is the chorus because of how the base works. To me it doesn't really fit so I don't know which version to use.

  1. Kia Ora Lauren! I really like BTS and I am excited to hear you play this song! It is totally normal to feel anxious when performing. We have a really cool little class of musicians and I know everyone is going to be supportive! We will have a little chat as a class next week about how to support each other when we are performing! Are there any strategies you can use to help feel calm when performing?
